The Area

The Bradley Inn is located in a very special area, ideally situated for reaching many of Maine’s iconic spots. You can explore New Harbor and Pemaquid Point or move up or down the coast a bit to Rockland/Camden or to Boothbay. With its granite shores, crashing waves, lobster buoys, and wildlife, you can literally just walk from the inn to explore the area around the Point and the iconic Pemaquid Lighthouse. The Bradley Inn is the perfect landing spot for your Maine vacation.

Walk from The Bradley Inn to Marble Cove or the Pemaquid Lighthouse. Take a short drive to the beautiful, soft, sandy Pemaquid Beach or New Harbor’s own Hardy Boat for a variety of ocean cruises. Just a little further away to the Bristol Mills Swimming Hole, Rachel Carson Saltwater Pond, Damariscotta River Cruises or Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens.

If you are interested in being active, Pemaquid Peninsula and its surrounds are the right place for you.

You will find numerous hiking trails on the many preserves that lead you through areas with streams, lakes and ocean views. Sea and lake kayaking opportunities abound, you can bring your own kayak or rent and join guided trips as well as explore on your own. Maine Kayak is just a five minute drive from the Inn. Bike the many back roads or spend a day at the beach or swimming hole.

Museums and History

Pemaquid Peninsula was visited and settled in the 1500s, making it rich with history.

Historical sites such as Fort William Henry, which is part of the Colonial Pemaquid State Historical Site and the historic Mill at Pemaquid Falls on the Old Bristol Historical Society property. Visit the many museums in the area; Pemaquid Lighthouse Fisherman’s Museum, Maine Maritime Museum in Bath or the Transportation Museum in Owls Head. If you are interested in art, the Farnsworth Art Museum in Rockland houses various collections including some of Maine’s famous Wyeth Family.

With nearby hiking and kayaking, onsite spa services, and walks to the lighthouse, you can easily round out the day.

Enjoy the onsite firepit with drinks or S’mores or play a game of bocce ball, croquet, badminton or disk golf.  The location is perfect for photography with sunrises, sunsets and an iconic lighthouse. With little to no light pollution the night sky is full of stars, over an open ocean, and depending upon the timing the milky way as well can be clearly seen.

Pemaquid Peninsula is also one of Maine’s best locations for bird watching, due to the number of birds that either live here or migrate through the area.
